It Shouldn't Take a Scare!

April 1st has come and gone without the disaster that had been reported.

The lesson to learn from this is that attacks happen and you always need to be prepared.

Having up-to-date Antivirus, SPAM, and Malware protection are a must.  A secure Firewall should be in place; and a plan for targeted web site restriction and managed internet access are strongly encouraged.

The Basics of Search Engine Optimization

SEO-Search.jpg

Everyone uses search engines.  If you have a website, as close to the top of these search engines is where you want to be.

Ranking on search engines like Google, Yahoo Search, MSN Live Search, etc. can be purchased; it is what drives their stock price and healthy dividends.  For huge corporations with deep pockets this approach is wonderful.  For the rest of us, there is another way to maximize exposure.

Through the use of Meta-tags, unseen web text hidden on each page, search engines can be given information that helps 'push' your site up the page.  You can control the title displayed, the 'blurb' that describes the page, and influence the keywords associated with each individual page of your website.

Tech-Talk.gifKeyboard Shortcuts - keep your hand off that Mouse!!

by: John Hayes

Constantly taking your hand away from the keyboard, finding your cursor and moving it to where you want it?  In most programs, tab will skip to the next field.  Did you go too far?  Holding down SHIFT + TAB will go in the opposite direction.  Need to select something?  Hitting the space bar acts like a mouse click when you have a button selected.  Make a mistake?  Hit ESC.  That’s short for Escape.  Same as WHOOPS!  LET ME OUTTA HERE!!

Toggle Toggle Toggle

To switch between programs, hold down ALT and tap the TAB key.  This will bring up a list of available applications.  Tap tab again while still holding down ALT and it’ll scroll through the available applications.  NOTE:  It re-arranges the list so that you can keep toggling between 2 programs by pressing ALT + TAB (release) ALT + TAB (release).
